Mount Hachimantai Summit

A single cherry blossom tree on Koiwai Farm

Although its precise age is unknown, the tree was planted some 100 years ago when the land was a grazing pasture to provide shade from the intense summer sunlight for the cows, animals that are sensitive to heat.
